Fifteen years since its last modernisation, Molino San Vito has once again turned to Ocrim for their new durum wheat plant for semolina production.  The work was carried out with the aim of increasing mill’s production, adapting the plant according to Atex standards and obtaining an excellent quality level of the final product. A year since final testing, Davide Cassata, the general manager at Molino San Vito, expresses his full satisfaction with the achieved performance levels.

Beyond Expectations

For Ocrim’s top management, accompanying customers along their journey of growth and seeing them achieve goal after goal is a reason for great pride.

Molino San Vito (Ciminna – Sicily – Italy) was originally a small business in the centre of town, which then expanded and moved to a new site in the outskirts. Over the years the durum wheat plant for the production of semolina became a point of reference for local farmers. The first meeting with Ocrim dates back 15 years, when, during slight modernisation, the historical Cremona-based company supplied some of the machines. Since then the relationship of mutual trust and complete collaboration has continued to grow: the recent expansion was the definitive confirmation. Indeed in June 2019 Daniele Cassata decided to modernise the plant and asked Ocrim to design the work with the objective of increasing the mill’s production capacity, adapt the plant according to strict Atex standards and raise the quality of the semolina to the highest levels.

The Ocrim team “redesigned”, in an innovative manner, the pre-cleaning, cleaning and grinding sections, equipping them with noble and high performing machines. In addition to the installation of debranners with diamond grindstones and optical sorters, the plansifters have been equipped with antimicrobial sieves to ensure greater product wholesomeness. The adopted technological solutions are the emblem of the progressive and careful work of the Ocrim Research & Development department. The work at Molino San Vito required specific studies and the proposal of highly customised solutions to completely upgrade and integrate the Ocrim machines. The customer’s original request involved an increase in the production capacity from 110 T/24h to 130 T/24h; thanks to the experience and flexibility of the Ocrim team, the plant now guarantees an additional output of 30 T/24 h more than the customer’s expectations.

Today, with an effective production of 160 T/24 h, the plant runs at full operation and Daniele Cassata has expressed complete satisfaction for the achieved goal.
