OCRIM’S HELP FOR FACING THE CURRENT EMERGENCY

We are convinced that when experiencing an emergency that involves the whole community, it’s necessary to express as best one’s social sense. We want to express the love for our country making a concrete contribution for facing the Covid-19. The Maggiore Hospital of Cremona needs to increase the number of health aids and equipment to save the life of our fellow citizens. Ocrim has decided to do its part donating 100,000 euros to the Arco Onlus Association, charged with raising the necessary funds.

From a recent survey of the Italian agri-food sector, published by Coldiretti, the extraordinary records of Made in Italy have emerged. Italian agriculture is the greenest in Europe, with over 60 thousand organic farms and 40 thousand farms committed to guaranteeing a biodiversity heritage that is unmatched in the world. The supply chain from the fields to the shelves to restaurants reaches a figure of 538 billion euros. Longevity has also been achieved thanks to a diet based on bread, pasta, fruit, vegetables and extra virgin olive oil.

CREMONA’S SOLIDARITY BREAD

“Agro per Agro” is a project of solidarity and circular economy that was born in Cremona to produce organic bakery products. The initiative is part of the activities of the social cooperative Agropolis aimed at supporting young people with disabilities. The young people will be involved in organizing an agricultural micro-chain that involves the cultivation of organic wheat, the production of high-quality flour and bread-making. Ocrim contributed to the realization of the project by offering the bio stone mill as a gift.

ANCIENT AND HERITAGE WHEATS COMPARED TO MODERN ONES

In a recent survey, conducted by the Assistant professor Enzo Spisni -nutrition physiologist at the University of Bologna-, the nutritional differences between ancient and modern wheat cultivars emerge. The results, obtained by comparing existing clinical trials, highlight the positive role of ancient wheat varieties in the modulation of inflammation and intestinal permeability.

After only a year of business, the Filiera Italia association, represented by Coldiretti, has become a non-profit foundation. Born in 2018 to enhance the Italian agri-food excellence, it now sees the participation of important Italian Bodies and Institutions that will allow Filiera Italia to become an authoritative national and international reference point. The ambitious goal of the new reality is to foster an increasingly sustainable development and to face new commercial, climatic and innovative challenges. The new president is Enzo Moavero Milanesi.
